Episode 244 - When Revival Reached the Frontier
from Daily Growth Point · host Pastor John Bingham
In the early 1800s, revival meetings spread through frontier America. Thousands gathered in camp meetings to hear preaching, pray, and seek God.One of the most faithful of circuit-riding preachers in American History is Peter Cartwright. He was a larger than life evangelist, and he continues to be celebrated today for his deep impact on the American Frontier, where he rode horseback for decades, baptizing thousands and planting churches throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, and Illinois.Cartwright and many others would point people to the Lord Jesus Christ who can satisfy the hungry soul. Matthew 5:6 says, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness.”As we prepare for our 250th anniversary, it is important for us to realize that material blessings will never satisfy the soul. True peace is found only in Christ.
