Throughout American history, some public leaders openly acknowledged their dependence upon God. While no government is perfect and no nation replaces the Kingdom of God, believers in public service have often sought to lead with integrity and moral conviction.One of the most famous Christians from American history was Patrick Henry. His deeply held Biblical convictions regarding freedom helped him encourage others to stand for truth. He boldly declared, “Give me liberty, or give me death!”Micah 6:8 says, “What doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” America needs leaders with wisdom and character. But beyond that, America needs citizens who fear God and live righteously.A nation’s future is shaped not only by elected officials, but by the character of its people.
