Discovered the power of storytelling at just five years old when he wrote his first story to prove to his grandmother that he could outdo the movies. Inspired by his parents, his father, a Navy man who taught resilience, and his mother, a nurse who instilled compassion. G. Russell's early influences shaped his love for crafting tales that explore the lessons of love. And life from role-playing games to comic books. His creative journey has been fueled by a passion for connecting with audiences through his stories, with four books, 20 screenplays, 2 plays, and countless poems. Russell to reminisce on his earliest memories of his grandmother, and how his journey of storytelling began. "Well, I'm very fortunate that I have a close-loving family and spending Summers with my grandmother. It was eye-opening, and you would think after the lessons I had learned before that point that I would have kept my mouth shut, but no... as far as the writing was concerned. I wanted to watch cartoons. She wanted to watch black and white movies.... And I told that her black and white movies are boring and I could tell better stories with an arm tied behind my back... She got me a stack of pads and a box of pencils and said 'prove it.' So there I was, Charlie Brown style... and when I finished one pad I looked up and she had that tilted head look like, 'What is this kid doing?' So she started reading, and I'm on the second pad, and she stops me from writing and basically [says,] 'Get your jacket, let's go.' We walk to the local library, she pulls down The Three Musketeers and reads it to me... it just blew my mind, and I've been chasing good stories ever since." WHERE TO FIND G. RUSSELL: G.
