Episode 249 - Madame Web

Oz and Curtis are researching rare spiders in the Peruvian Amazon, driving ambulances through billboard advertisements, and seeing the future exactly five seconds before it happens to break down the internet's favorite meme machine: Madame Web!Cassandra Webb (Dakota Johnson) is a cynical Boston paramedic who, after a near-death experience, begins developing mysterious, reality-bending clairvoyant powers. When her visions reveal a dangerous, suit-wearing villain named Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim) hunting down three teenage girls (Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O'Connor, and Isabela Merced), Cassandra has to step up. Unraveling a past connected to her mother's spider research, she must use her new mental gifts to alter the timeline and keep the girls alive. We untangle the hilariously chaotic threads of this web: Dakota Johnson’s aggressively detached performance, the legendary clunky dialogue ("He was in the Amazon with my mom..."), the bizarrely obvious voice dubbing, and a superhero movie where the main characters never actually get their powers. Is Madame Web an instant masterpiece of unintentional Comic Book Camp and a future Cult Classic, or just a reminder that the future of a cinematic universe shouldn't always be seen ahead of time? Tune in for our full Madame Web 2024 movie review!"You know, the web connects us all." — A phrase that explains why we couldn't escape the memes, no matter how hard we tried. If you’re into analyzing studio franchise disasters, appreciating the deadpan energy of Dakota Johnson, or listening to two dudes who would definitely accidentally run over the villain with a Pepsi truck, this episode is for you.To secure your content and prevent a terrible paradox in the timeline, drive straight over to https://LetsTalkAboutFlix.com — where our takes are completely unfiltered and guaranteed to be an unforgettable listen.Follow the boys on social media:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/letstalkaboutflixInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/letstalkaboutflix/Support the show: https://www.patreon.com/talkaboutflix#moviepodcast #filmpodcast #comedypodcast #filmreview #moviereview
