Episode 25 - Saving Private Ryan *Listener's Choice*

Steven Spielberg's epic about a troop of WWII soldiers on a mission to retrieve a fellow American was universally acclaimed for its painstakingly realistic depiction of war.  No argument from Phil and Andrew there.  Where the opinions divide is on the rest of the film.  Andrew considers most of the non-battle scenes to be "garbage."  Phil finds the pandering easier to swallow, in light of the barrage of horrific violence throughout.  They both agree Spielberg is an amazing filmmaker.  "Saving Private Ryan" was a groundbreaking vision of war on film and was justly awarded several technical Oscars.
