Episode 25: The People's Constitution by Bronwyn Kelly (Chapter 6 - Parts 14 & 15)

from The Australia Together Podcast · host Bronwyn Kelly

In Episode 25 Bronwyn Kelly reads Chapter 6 Parts 14 and 15 of her book, The People's Constitution: the path to empowerment of Australians in a 21st century democracy. In Part 14 she reads a starting draft of a National Agreement on Human Rights and Obligations. This draft is offered to assist in community engagement and is therefore fully detailed. This makes it quite a complex amendment to the Constitution that may be difficult to follow unless a full transcript is provided. The full transcript is of course available in the book. But for the ease of the listener here is a link to the wording of the starting draft of The National Agreement on Human Rights and Obligations. In the 15th and final part of Chapter 6 Bronwyn sets out why a National Agreement on Human Rights and Obligations that is made by the people in accordance with their stated values as a nation is essential to any true democracy.
