Episode 25 with Dr Dziegielewski, Peter

Dr. Dziegielewski (aka Dr. Dz) is the Chief of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology & Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Florida. He is originally from Canada, where he received his MD from the University of Alberta. He then completed residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (aka “Ear Nose and Throat Surgery / ENT”), also at the University of Alberta. He became certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and went on to compete a fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at The Ohio State University. For the last 10 years Dr. Dz has been a Head and Neck Cancer and Reconstructive Surgeon at UF Health/Shands. He treats benign and malignant conditions of the head and neck. This includes cancers of the mouth, throat, voice box, sinuses, skin and neck as well as salivary and thyroid masses/cancer. He has a particular interest in reconstructing defects following the removal of cancers, where tissue is needed from other parts of the body (“free flaps”) to rebuild the missing anatomy. He also specializes in trasn-oral robotic surgery to remove cancers of the throat. He is active in clinical research, particularly in the realms of quality and functional outcomes. He is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and teaches medical students, residents and fellows.
