Episode 26: Brian McLaren Interview - a new kind of liberal

from Beer Christianity · host BMS World Mission

Brian McLaren is one of the most influential Christian thinkers of a generation. He expresses a Christian faith that is perfectly in tune with contemporary progressivism.  Jonty spoke to him at Greenbelt Festival in 2014 and discussed the interview in 2020 with Drabs and new guy Alex (don't worry, Laura will be back, but Al was kind and took these great photos). It's a great interview, we're not gonna lie. And a pretty good discussion afterwards. Because Brian McLaren is a fascinating dude and he's right about a lot of stuff. But, potentially, not everything. Which is fair.  [Jonty has lost a little weight and a lot of haircut since then] Listen to this episode to discover what is so great about the 'new' movement of progressive Christianity, and what dangers it presents. Also listen to discover how Brian McLaren is like Billy Corgan. Or isn't.  Thanks to Greenbelt Festival Beer Christianity for making the interview possible. Best fest in the world. Check out Alexander Baker photography's amazing work as well if you get the chance.  Find Brian McLaren's writing and thinking here.  Follow Beer Christianity on Twitter: @beerxianity and find us on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube and Stitcher.  All Beer Christianity shows and info available at http://beerchristianity.libsyn.com  Jesus Christ is the Son of God and came to teach us a better way to be while reconciling us to God and each other in a way we could never do without Him. He also changed water into wine. Nice.
