from The Well-Tended Life · host Keri Wilt

Why Listen? Here are just a few HEART TAPS from this amazing episode with author NICKI CARLSON:Passion is contagious The veil that separates us from our loved ones who have died is so much thinner than we recognize. We have to take the time to look around us. There is good in the grief because grief creates intimacy. We do hard things when we have no choice but to do hard things. When going through grief, your feelings are not going to make sense. Give yourself permission to FEEL IT ALL. NICKI’S BOOK: Grace-Faced: Pursuing the Life-Changing Perspective of a Loving God by Nicki Carlson https://amzn.to/3l7ysMpGUEST BIO:Nicki Dechert Carlson was born and raised in Kerrville, Texas. She attended Kerrville public schools and graduated from Tivy High School in 1993. While at Tivy, Nicki met John Carlson, and the two began dating and are married to this day. John is a solo law practitioner specializing in estate planning, probate, and guardianship matters. They have three children: Rachel, in her fourth year at Texas A&M; Grace, in her first year at the University of Texas in Austin; and Johnathan, a freshman at Tivy High School.Nicki released her first book last year, Grace-Faced: Pursuing the Life-Changing Perspective of a Loving God. She has previously written for newspapers, magazines, trade journals, and on her blog “Expressively His.” Grace-Faced has been met with great enthusiasm and praise. One Amazon review states, “Grace-Faced is a book unlike any other I have read. Carlson greets me on her pages like a trusted friend: sympathetic, understanding, and never preachy or holier than thou. Her humorous stories, anecdotes, and personal experiences showcase her openness and non-judgmental style as she walks me through the ways I can seek the face of God.” Another reader comments, “Carlson's conversational style of writing will make you feel like you're sitting across the table from a wise and close friend enjoying a great cup of coffee and quality time together.”When she’s not writing, Nicki enjoys playing tennis and piano, volunteering at her church and children’s schools, singing, and trying to keep her flower and vegetable gardens alive.SIDE NOTES: Links to things referenced in the podcast episode.John Legend’s Song: Pieces  https://youtu.be/7RrMneXJ9w0Book: Elija by Pricilla Shirer  https://amzn.to/3JDm5lwLife-Tending Made Simple is On SaleLTMS is my foundational course built around my simple 5-step practice that’s designed to help you slow down, clear mental clutter, notice what’s really going on in your life, and intentionally tend to what matters most. It’s not about becoming perfect. It’s about becoming more aware, more rooted, and more intentional—one small step at a time. And for a limited time this summer, the course is on sale HERE.So if today’s conversation stirred something in you… this is a beautiful place to begin.CULTIVATE U: A Life Changing  6-Week Virtual MasterclassTHIS IS YOUR SEASON.
