In this episode Kvothe gets a sword, gets a new name, and gets his ass kicked…multiple times. Kvothe starts off this section by annoying Vashet. But, very quickly it turns from annoyance to anger. Vashet roughs Kvothe up and intentionally leaves marks on his face for all of Ademre to see. Kvothe has to take his test more quickly that anticipated. During his test he calls the name of the wind…twice. He shows for the first time that he can call the wind at will. Kvothe gets his new name and new sword.
