Episode 262: Is Ignorance Truly ‘Bliss’?

So I went into this beautiful toilet and discovered that there was no provision for handwash…… What?! That was my reaction. “How can a luxurious building with fanciful rest rooms like these not provide hand wash.” I said to myself, rolling my eyes after looking around the toilet with no sign of handwash facility, except for tap water. And to top it all up- there was no one there to observe or ask. I visited the restroom again, this time around, out of curiosity, looking under the mirror wondering if the hand wash was built in next to the tap. As I was about taking a selfie 🤳, my eyes popped open to the inconspicuous place where the handwash is built in. A picture - an emoji was on the mirror as a Guide to where the hand wash is. Finally! I was able to wash my hand with soap. One of the ways we can shortchange ourselves of the blessing and inheritance God has endued us with, is by ignorance. An example is the story of the Sadducees. This is the party that denies any possibility of resurrection after death. They conspired to trap Jesus by distorting His Word. They came to Jesus one day, hoping to set a trap for Him. They asked Jesus a question, saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, leaving no children, his brother as next of kin shall marry his widow, and raise children for his brother.’ Now there were seven brothers among us; the first married and died, and having no children left his wife to his brother. The second also [died childless], and the third, down to the seventh. So in the resurrection, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had married her.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22:23-26, 28‬ ‭AMP‬‬ To them, there was no way Jesus would escape the trap, not knowing that they were acting ignorantly. Jesus’ response silenced them! As Matthew 22.34 recalls. “But Jesus replied to them, “You are all wrong because you know neither the Scriptures [which teach the resurrection] nor the power of God [for He is able to raise the dead]. For in the resurrection neither do men marry nor are women given in marriage, but they are like angels in heaven [who do not marry nor produce children]. But as to the resurrection of the dead—have you not read [in the Scripture] what God said to you: ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at His teaching. Now when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced (muzzled) the Sadducees, they gathered together.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22:29-34‬ ‭AMP‬‬ Also, apostle Paul, in 2 Corinths 2:11 encouraged the Church in Corinth to take responsibility for the health of the Church by focusing on forgiveness rather on further rebuke… “lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬ Ignorance, from today’s Scriptural perspective is definitely not bliss. It is rather harmful. Father I thank You for how far You have opened our eyes of understanding. I pray for freshness of open heart towards You and Your Word so that we can always walk in the beauty of the riches (love, hope, peace, forgiveness etc) You have made available for us, in Christ Jesus. Amen
