Episode 262 - Paterson
from In The Queue - Film Conversations with Andrew and Phil · host Andrew and Phil
Jim Jarmusch is no stranger to low-key stories. His new film, 'Paterson' is a chronicle of one week in the life of a bus driving amateur poet in New Jersey. The acting is all around good, with Adam Driver embodying the main character in all his affable charm. Andrew saw the film as a beautiful tribute to life's small moments. Phil thought the film was precisely too small, and therefore not dramatic enough to stick in his memory. A film can delight in small moments and also feature a compelling plot, which this film did not deliver. Andrew challenged Phil to explain why he liked other slow-moving Jarmusch films, but not this one.
