Episode 267: Focus on Your Journey
from Detox with Abi · host Abimbola Arawande
How do you deal with the fear of being hit by a truck? I used to avoid being side by side with a truck whenever I was driving, especially when I was turning around the round-about. This was for the fear of being crushed. The apprehension was so much that, whenever I saw a truck, I would rather reduce my speed and stayed behind the truck. And why did I feel this way? I observed that whenever I turned my face towards the direction of the truck driver, the lane where I was would look so small. Feelings of apprehension and thoughts of being crushed would come to mind. What a relief it was when I finally knew the answer to this uneasiness! The moments I discover that whenever I focus on the road, towards the direction I am driving, it is a smooth one and turning as well around the round about. I focus on my journey! I stay intentional to stay on my journey. What a truth I learnt from this experience! Apostle Paul in his letter to the Philippians in 3:12-14 mentioned this truth, pressing towards the goal by focusing on his journey- his calling, his assignment. Listen to what he said- “I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.” Philippians 3:12-14 MSG Remember, be intentional to focus on your journey. Focus on your assignment Focus on your business Focus on your journey Let’s pray Father we thank You for how you always use our everyday activity to teach us and to guide us into all truth. We pray for freshness and increased grace to continue to focus our attention on Jesus as we journey in life. In Jesus’ name. Amen
