Episode #267: Tributary - Metal Lords

from Reel Film Nerds · host Drowning Nerd Productions

Happy 420 everyone! If Matt and Mike planned ahead they would have reviewed a stoner flick but they didn’t. Instead Matt picked a metal movie the Netflix Original Metal Lords. Not 420 topics include high school bullying, Roomba, and Big Trouble in Little China. Are you yearning for a metal based coming of age story? Then boy do we have a film for you! Metal Lords’ story is nothing special. It has been told over and over many times. A group of teenagers get together to form a band to compete in their school’s battle of the bands for money and or recognition. Lots of antics ensue and by the end of the film the teens work together to win, right? No spoilers but yep that is pretty much Metal Lords in a nutshell but again it's METAL!!!!!!! This film is a lot of fun especially the soundtrack, cameo’s, and bipolar cellist. If you want to reminisce about high school while rocking out to some awesome metal then this film is for you. It’s not at the level of Super Bad but it is still a great film. Mike gives Metal Lords 4 out of 5 Reels. Matt on the other hand thought it was just average because of the story awarding it 3 out of 5 Reels. For next week's podcast Mike takes us back to the theaters to catch a mid budget film that is making huge waves, Everything Everywhere All at Once.
