Episode 268: What Drives You?

What drives you? What drives you -Desire to make God famous or desire to make ‘you’ famous? (Ephesians 4:1; Gen 11:4; Psalms 45:17) After the flood, all the people on the earth were speaking only one language. They all had good idea, great idea! Idea to make their name famous! “Then they said, “Come, let’s build ourselves a city and a tower that reaches Heaven. Let’s make ourselves famous so we won’t be scattered here and there across the Earth.”” Genesis‬ ‭11:4‬ ‭MSG‬‬ Another scenario was king David in one of his psalms- “I will make your name famous from now on. People will praise you forever and ever.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭45:17‬ ‭ICB‬‬ No wonder he was described as a man after God’s heart despite his failings. In his life time, king David was determined that the fame of God’s name would be honoured, not only when he was alive but in every generation. What a legacy he left. King David’s action is thought-provoking and reflecting. I think this is the moment to have a reflective thinking? What drives us on a daily basis? What drives our choices? Is it desire to be famous or desire to make God proud? Let’s pray Father I thank You for Your Word. Open our eyes to what we are unknowingly or even knowingly doing wrong. I pray for strength in our inner man to make all the changes needed. We thank You for Your Holy Spirit that will continue to empower us to live lives that measure up to the standard You set when You called us - to live lives that exhibit Your character, moral courage, personal integrity, and lives that express gratitude to God for our salvation. (Ephesians 4:1) In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. ‭‭
