Episode #277: Elvis (2022)

Happy almost 4th of July everyone! For Reel Film Nerds Podcast 277 Mike and Matt sit down and chat about the newest musician biopic, Elvis (2022) starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks. Not King related topics include In N Out Burger, Money Pit, and Rock and Roll class. The summer of 2022 is really strong with great films and Elvis (2022) is one of them. The storytelling of this infamous rockstar is very different but in a good way. It’s told from the perspective of Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker, the villain of the film. Tom Hanks who plays Parker did an incredible job as always but Austin Butler, wow, just WOW! Butler really brought Elvis to life with his singing, dancing, and off stage mannerisms and coyness. The biggest complaints your hosts had for Elvis (2022) is the length of the film, inaccuracies of Elvis’ life, and parts of his past that could have been elaborated on. Overall Mike and Matt loved the film and recommend you run out and see it in the theaters. Elvis (2022) earns a great rating of 4 out of 5 Reels from both hosts.
