Over the course of our conversation you will hear us talk about the way in which this movie fits this microgenre, how it traverses its landscape with such brashness that it makes Porky's look subtle and nuanced and its success still suggests that the teen comedy could be transplanted into a university setting without much ado. We also talk about youth tribalism as the engine of the film, Revenge of the Nerds as a premonition anticipating the rise of tech bros, the many insensitivies that make watching the film incredibly difficult and a weirdly socially progressive reading you can look well past the surface level of the narrative.
