God told Abraham that he and his wife's descendants would outnumber the stars in the sky and the grains of sand on the seashore. At last count, Douglas and Amanda Shaw have 133 living descendants. Sixty-six books of the Bible chronicle stories and instructions from the lives and descendants of Adam, Eve, Sarah, and Abraham.The Shaws Multiplied briefly tells stories of the lives, adventures, and experiences of some of the descendants of Douglas and Amanda Shaw-some deceased and other still living. From the stories depicting character traits, personalities, education, and occupations, I pray you will recognize traits that show who you are because of who they were. Get acquainted with these folks and enjoy the memories.Doris Howe is a missionary with Youth with A Mission. Her mission field is in Tyler, Texas at Loving Alternative Adoption Agency. She has been an adoption caseworker for over 24 years. Her main task is to minister to young women who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy. She is to love them, educate them, and pray with them. God’s ultimate call for Doris is to introduce these young women to Jesus Christ who is there to help change their lives. An adoption may or may not be part of that relationship. Doris has two books published. One is called Adoption Joys they expected a miracle. The other is a family book called The Shaws Multiplied. For 25 years I was a missionary with YWAM working in the Adoption leg of Living Alternatives. I often wrote newsletters to the couples with whom I had worked through adoption. Eventually I realized I had several stories about adoptions. Maybe there was the beginning of a book. Sure enough–the Adoption Joys They Expected A Miracle came about. Then about 3 years ago when I was praying I felt God said, “I’m sick and tired of the fatherlessness that is taking over this culture.” Of course, I agreed. I knew the second “adoption” book would become a reality..
