Episode 28 The Snorlax Pit

from The Give Me Five Podcast: An Uncultured Look at Pop Culture and Nostalgia

This week we switch from fantasy to sci-fi, with a little bit of dark comedy sprinkled in. In the streaming world we added Altered Carbon to our "stack". This Netflix original, based on a book series by Richard K. Morgan was beautifully made and set in a Blade Runner-esque world. It was entertaining and left us with quite a few thoughts on the idea of re-sleeving your memory into new bodies and the idea of soul. We also kept it going with dystopian futures with the Netflix film Mute. Rob let us know his opinion on game night, and Greg and Jimmy checked out Annihilation and we liked it but there were a few parts that left us feeling a bit twisted up inside. So unsettled, in fact, it led to our question of the week. What are the 5 most unsettling scenes in movies you have seen? Times: 17:35 Altered Carbon 41:43 Mute 47:28 Game Night 53:38 Annihilation 1:07:37 The Question Oh and we have a store! Check out our shirts, mugs, bags and phone cases here: Buy cool crap!
