Episode 281 - Dave Fenley
from The Raised Rowdy Podcast Hosted by Nick Tressler and Kurt Ozan
In this episode of The Raised Rowdy Podcast, hosts Nick Tressler and Matt Burrill sit down with Dave Fenley for a conversation about his unconventional journey through Nashville and a career built on persistence, relationships, and a love for performing. Dave shares the wild story of stumbling into Whiskey Jam shortly after moving to town, where a broken guitar string, an impromptu beatboxing performance, and a chance encounter with Miranda Lambert led to three years on the road as part of Jukebox Mafia. He also explains how an unexpected television appearance turned into a massive following in Quebec, eventually leading to tens of thousands of tickets sold in French Canada. The guys dive into the power of live music, longevity in Nashville, supporting other creatives, and Dave's decision to launch Allocation Music Publishing as a way to invest in songwriters he believes in. Dave also breaks down the process behind finally releasing his debut album, blending his country songwriting roots with the soulful side of his voice, trusting collaborators, experimenting with technology as a creative tool, and learning to give up some control along the way. After more than a decade of twists, opportunities, and unforgettable stories in Music City, Dave's perspective is a reminder that sometimes the biggest breaks come simply from continuing to show up.
