Episode 283: The Dirt Cure with Dr Maya Shetreat

from The Catherine Plano Podcast · host Catherine Plano

Catherine is here today with Dr. Maya Shetreat. Dr Maya Shetreat is a neurologist, herbalist, urban farmer, and author of The Dirt Cure where she reveals the shocking contents of children’s food, how it’s seriously harming their bodies and brains, and what you can do about it. Dr Maya’s current work started when her 7-year-old son had a seizure, at the time of her son’s crisis, she knew that focusing on his physical body wasn’t the answer. It was something that seemed far more intangible. It was his energy body that needed help. It was his spirit. It was his soul. Dr Maya realized that this was exactly what had been missing all along in her training and travelled all over the world and learned from plants, teachers, elders, and indigenous communities from Ecuador and Mexico to Australia and Africa. And … while she still (and probably forever will) love to geek out over the brain and mitochondria and science, her specialty is showing sensitive, empathic people how to heal, how to care for themselves and how to recognize and hone their gifts. She has been featured in the New York Times, The Telegraph, NPR, Sky News, The Dr. Oz Show and is the founder of the Terrain Institute, where she teaches Terrain Medicine, earth-based programs for transformational healing.
