Episode 286 - Surviving a Spirit - Philip the Ghost (Part Two)

from Two Girls One Ghost · host Sony Music Entertainment

After an ominous cliffhanger in part one, we left you wondering, who or... what is Philip and how far would he go to free himself of the small room he was conjured within. In part two, we will dive into Philip's escalation and growth, how the experiment conjured more questions than answers, how he left a lasting impact on the group of eight members who brought him into the world, and other iterations of the Philip experiment that have been conducted. Philip the Ghost was conjured in the fall of 1972 by a group of eight members of the Toronto Society of Psychical Research group in Toronto, Canada. Together, they created a fictional spirit, Philip, and sought to use mental power to conjure his physical spectral being.  The Philip Experiment inspired many other spiritual creations. The Toronto Society of Psychical Research attempted to create Lilith, a French Canadian Spy. Then came Sebastian, a medieval alchemist, and Axel, a man from the future. Experiments similar to Philip have taken place all over the world and there's rumor that The Skippy Experiment, conducted by an Australian team, has procured video evidence that they plan to share with the world. While this topic is intriguing, curious and a little bit unsettling, it leaves us with more questions than answers... what is the paranormal? Are we creating spirits with thought? Can a group spend enough time with one another that they create a group consciousness? How can they extend outward? Are we on our way to creating planet Lanulous? Is any of this real... ? Book used for research of this episode: Conjuring up Philip; an Adventure in Psychokinesis by Iris Own and Margaret Sparrow Haunted location mentioned: The Carter Mansion Watch the video version on Youtube. Corinne and Sabrina hand select a couple of paranormal encounters from our inbox to read in each episode, from demons, to cryptids, to aliens, to creepy kids... the list goes on and on.
