Episode 288 - High June
from The Raised Rowdy Podcast Hosted by Nick Tressler and Kurt Ozan
On Episode 288 of the Raised Rowdy Podcast, host Nick Tressler sits down with all five members of North Carolina rock band High June: Jack Flowers, Will Sain, James Barbee, Ryon Gerringer and Hayden Church. The guys trace the band’s journey from playing covers around East Carolina University to building an original sound shaped by country, pop, metal, classic rock and ’90s grunge. They share the unlikely stories of how the lineup came together, the creation of their early standout “After Hours” and why they prefer to describe their sound simply as rock. High June also discusses their collaborative songwriting process, the heavier direction of “You’re Sorry” and their plans to follow it with a fully acoustic release. The conversation explores North Carolina’s growing rock scene, touring with Dexter and the Moonrocks, sharing stages with The Black Crowes and preparing to bring their music to Texas. They also break down the importance of stage dives, guitar solos and creating a live show that gives fans an experience they cannot get from streaming alone.
