Episode 29: First Reactions to 50 Cent’s Diddy Documentary

from No Boundaries: Black Girl Magic Edition with Anousha Nzume · host Anousha Nzume

The Diddy documentary that 50 Cent recently executive-produced has taken over the internet. Ever since Cassie Ventura came forward with her accusations against her long-time boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs, the world has looked at Diddy with new eyes. Though for many who were close to Diddy, they knew the kind of man he was for a long time. They just never thought he would get caught. Now that Cassie has come forward, over +100 civil cases have been filed against Diddy and his company, Bad Boy Records. That, paired with the fact that Diddy refused to pay the people closest to him (including his own personal documentary production crew), created the perfect storm for this documentary to be made. It was suddenly safe, or safer than it used to be, for people to come out of the woodwork and finally talk about what Diddy put them through. In this week’s episode, we’re sharing our first reactions to 50 Cent’s documentary about long-time enemy Sean “Diddy” Combs. The documentary was shocking, but not surprising. It was very easy to see how a man with unilateral power and access to violent figures would enact that violence on anyone who questioned his actions. But there is some hope that can come from this, regardless of how the rest of Diddy’s lawsuits go. People can now speak out about the violence that they were subjected to, we as a community are discussing the nuances that need to be understood if we are going to protect victims of SA, and we now know the tactics that Diddy used to trap people in the first place. Tune in to hear our first reactions and how we can protect ourselves from future Diddy copycats. Enjoy!
