This week Aisha sits down with Krystal Hodge, the owner and creator of SafetyKay. After 8 years as a Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist (HSE), Krystle Hodge recognized there was a need in the community that she could solve. As an HSE Specialist, she promotes safety in the workplace for adults, and that’s when she thought, “I should teach and promote safety techniques to children that will keep them safe while at home or having fun.” That’s when SafetyKay was born. SafetyKay was created to provide resources and safety products to teach critical safety skills to children. Every year millions of children are hospitalized and thousands of child fatalities occur due to unintentional injuries. With Krystle’s teaching style, children are shown how to have fun while remaining safe. Krystle’s ultimate goal is to prevent and reduce safety incidents among children ages 5-11. One of Krystle’s superpowers is creating entertaining and interactive ways to teach children about safety.
