Episode 294 – THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN

from The Matineecast

Runtime 83 minutes Show Contents 0:00 Introduction 3:53 Know Your Enemy with Guest – Bob Turnbull 25:10 The New Slang: THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN 1:04:31 The Other Side: Bob and Ryan talk further reading after Martin McDonagh film Thoughts from Your Host… Back on-schedule this week and back with all of the features that a full Matineecast is known to deliver. That means “The Other Side” is back, and it also means the debut of a ninth round of “Know Your Enemy” questions. It’s a good feeling going into November. More than once my guest for this talk mentions Episode 300, and I admit it’s been on my mind. It’s amazing to think I’ve been doing this for so long – and humbling to know that even just one person keeps coming back. I haven’t wanted to get carried away with plans because of both superstition and also an acute understanding the 300 episodes of Matineecast isn’t the same as 300 episodes of “All Things Considered”. Still I want to – and will – mark the occasion. Not long ago I watched as an institution that had hit a milestone needed to be talked into celebrating the milestone. I swore that would never be me. These days, anything worth celebrating is just that: worth celebrating. Time to think about 300. Any ideas? Links mentioned in Episode 294… Trailer for Gumball Run: The final HIGH FIDELITY needle drop: Matineecast 59 where Joanna Chlebus and I discuss HIGH FIDELITY The red tape scene from PULSE: “I don’t like y no more…” scene from THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN: “justified” by Kacey Musgraves Bob’s Twitter feed can be found here. Comments and feedback are welcome and thank you very much for listening.  Enjoy!
