In this episode we talk about the Raising Digital Citizens kit and how and when to use the questions. We talk about screens and whether screens and screen time is the right way to talk. How the quality of what you see is more important than the quantity. We talk about how we can get more screen time balance at home. How we can make our children realise the importance of balance. How much is too much? We talk about the worrying statistics and the dramatic increase of screen use per day among tweens and teens. We underline that not all children are the same and not all parents are the same so we have to consider this in our approach. The importance of not rewarding with screen time and not punishing with taking screentime away. How to use tech to connect and not to disconnect. How to encourage children with off-line activities. Adding positive and healthy activities before subtracting addictive or unhealthy online activities. We raise the topic of building trust with your child and how we can best do this. About not being hypocritical and leading by example. About teaching and educating rather than imposing impossible unrealistic rules. That it takes many actions to build trust and few too undermine the trust again. About being vulnerable and honest is a key insight to building trust.
