Episode 3: Black Maternal Health Week

In honor of Black Maternal Health Week, we discuss the issues that affect Black mothers, and what may cause the 3-4x increased death due to pregnancy among the population. This striking disparity exists even when health insurance status, education, and chronic diseases are taken into account suggesting there is something dangerous about being black pregnant and giving birth in the context of the United States. The month of April is recognized in the United States as National Minority Health Month – a month-long initiative to advance health equity across the country on behalf of all racial and ethnic minorities.
