Episode 3: Dr. Carly Roman-Woo on Handling Grief in Aging Adults and Caregivers

We strive to bring new aspects of grief and grieving with you each week and this week, we were honored to speak with Dr. Carly Roman-Woo about her experiences as a gerontologist. She is currently serving as Program Officer at Archstone Foundation, a private grantmaking nonprofit whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of older Californians and their caregivers. In her role, Dr. Roman-Woo leads and oversees the Technology strategy area within the Foundation’s focus on care coordination with an interwoven commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Dr. Roman-Woo received her PhD from the University of Southern California Leonard Davis School of Gerontology in 2021 and her BA in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016. Her doctoral research, supported by the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship, focused on understanding intergenerational connections and how they benefit older adults. Dr. Roman-Woo is a leader in intergenerational programming as a three-time chapter founder and current Advisory Council member of GlamourGals, a national nonprofit organization in which students provide free makeovers and manicures to senior living residents.
