Episode 3: I Finally Stopped Looking Down
from Morgan Moves Differently · host Morgan Key
For years, I looked down at my feet when I walked. Partly because I needed to watch where I was stepping so I wouldn’t fall… but also because I was embarrassed by the way I walked. I didn’t want to stand out. I didn’t want people staring. I just wanted to fit in. I never expected that becoming a full-time wheelchair user would actually help me feel more confident in myself. In this episode, I’m talking about the embarrassment I carried for years, learning to accept my disability, and how using a wheelchair has changed the way I see myself and the world around me. I’m also sharing an update on getting my new wheelchair for FREE and why advocating for yourself can make such a difference. I’m still learning. I still have hard days. And I’m not going to pretend acceptance means loving every part of living with a disability. But I’m learning that I don’t have to hide who I am, apologize for needing help, or prove my worth by pushing through everything. I spent years looking down because I was afraid of what people would see if I looked up. Now, I’m finally looking up. Grab your coffee, get comfortable, and let’s talk about it.
