Episode 3: The Incas

from Global History of Peru · host Luka Haeberle

Here is the much awaited episode on Inca history!   The Inca empire began to form around 1200 AD and reached its greatest expansion in 1532. By this time, the Inca rulers claimed territories in Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru and even Ecuador and Colombia as their own. On this occasion I talked about their socio-political organization, in such a way that the events that occurred after the encounter with the Conquistadors are understandable. I also explained what historical sources we count on and commented on the trends in recent research literature.   Enjoy the episode.   You can find the episode's bibliography on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/Historiaperuanaparacuriosos . I meant to say Pacaritambo and Huanacaure. These two archaeological sites are considerably more recent than said narrative’s timeline.
