He leads the Integrative Pain Laboratory (iPainLab) and heads the MPH program in Biostatistics at the University of Haifa’s School of Public Health. His research explores how our brains and bodies process pain—and more importantly, how we can recover from it. By combining insights from neurophysiology, biochemistry, voice, and language, Dr. Goldstein’s team develops diagnostic tools powered by computational and digital technologies. He is also the co-creator of Personalized Danger Signal Reprocessing (PDSR)—a therapeutic approach for chronic pain, now being piloted across healthcare systems and tech platforms. In a creative turn that reflects his own near experience with chronic pain, Dr. Goldstein reimagined the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Californication as Pain Chronification - a song that gives voice to the emotional and physiological journey of pain.
