Her extensive 20 year background in traditional education lead to a new path to serve children and families through a mindfulness lens where she founded Mindful Kids Inc. in Stratford 7 years ago where her mission is to empower children to live a mindfulness lifestyle that will serve them for a lifetime through calm leadership, happy communities & focussed days… & that begins with calm, happy, focussed kids.....& herself too. Melissa focuses on the “how” for kids to find their calm in any situation or emotion - to live the most joyous life possible in whatever way, any day looks like for families by teaching and supporting the integration of mindful tools as secret super powers into everyday lives - you won’t find her quietly sitting and meditating on mats all day with kids!! Melissa uniquely weaves mindfulness into each and every single moment through mindfulness camp settings in the form of Summer Camps to March Break Camps to PA Day Camps and everything in-between - if you were to drive past any nature based camp setting, it would simply look like the campers are playing, but what they are covertly doing is taking their mindful tools they learn and put them to work for them, in all the positive ways that not only serves them in the moment, but also carries through after they leave camp into family life, school life, sports life, clubs, sleep, etc - all the beautiful things that makes up childhood & family life. Melissa also understands the value of families desiring children’s private mindfulness sessions - where a child can empower themselves with mindfulness in a quiet, comfortable and safe one to one setting, where their foundation of mindfulness is laid by connecting their big feelings with specific mindful tools curated just right for them through an interactive chats, practise, activities & movement.
