Episode 30 featuring Agegrouper Hannah Sangan

from Agegroup Multisport Podcast (Triathlon,Duathlon,Aquabike,Aquathlon) · host AMP

Send us Fan Mail Hannah was a very sporty child. Her parents had always encouraged her  and her sister to participate in sport and she remembers sitting on a humid poolside watching her sister swim and wanting so badly to join in with her club sessions. When Hannah was old enough she started club swimming which she did up to County Level for Oxfordhsire. Hannah then began athletics with Oxford City Athletics club after falling in love with cross country at school. With demand for her to complete swim sessions before school and the pressure in the sport rising, she gave it up to focus solely on Athletics and also competed at County level. Hannah says was never anything special, but loved the sport, loved competing and loved the social aspect. At 15 she began assisting in coaching at the club and worked her way through the coaching qualifications.  When Hannah moved to sixth form she dropped out of her club sport and coaching for a number of reasons. The school was a Boy's school which only had girls in the six form only and provisions for girls sport were not great! But she really missed it and was keen to get back into a club setting as soon as she got to University. When at University Hannah got her first taste of cycling and loved it! Again, she claims she wasn't anything special but  just loved being part of a club and having a routine again. Hannah began coaching again for the athletics club and started on her route through the coaching qualifications again. When she moved to do her PhD in Kent, Hannah joined Medway Triathlon Club and hasn't looked back since! Alongside training she began coaching for the club and was supported by funding from the University through their Sport Scholars team to race. In her first year of competing in triathlon she qualified for the World Aquathlon Championships for her Age Group and came 7th. Since then she has continued to compete and has Qualified this year for the European Sprint Championships for her Age Group. You can listen to this AMP episode and all the others on most podcast platforms and now we a have our own YouTube channel : AMP GBFind us Instagram amp_1967Twitter  agegroupmultisportpodcastFacebook AMPGBYouTube GBWebsite is : agegroupmultisportpodcast.buzzsprout.comemail: agegroupmultisportpodcastSupport the show
