from #BIZ with the Beard · host #BIZ with the Beard

Matt George hails from the Whiskey City, of Peoria, IL. He is the current CEO of The Children’s Home of Central Illinois, former Executive Director of the Hult center for Healthy Living, President and CEO of the Youth Farm, and Executive director of former Fighting Illini and NFL QB the Jeff George Foundation. He is an entrepreneur who has successfully ran numerous retail and restaurant businesses in Central Illinois. He just released a book called “Nonprofit Game Plan: The Proven Strategy for Nonprofit Success.” that debut on Amazon's best seller. Matt drew mentor-ship from and cooperation from Shark Tank's original Shark, Mr. Kevin Harrington by heading him off back stage after one of Kevin's public speaking engagements! Matt will reveal that relationship and how important , mentors and coaches are for all business leaders! Matt also discuss the major branding issues the nonprofit sector has as poorly run charities looking for handouts or the pet projects. Matt George changes the narrative, and as the CEO of the Children’s Home Association of Illinois, a nonprofit leader facing the state’s most serious social ills, George draws his unorthodox philosophies straight from the front lines.  Matt talks about how nonprofits are the world’s best defense against the gnawing grind of social decay, poverty, homelessness and crime. He wants to inspire a new generation to take up the mantle of social service and start running non-profits like businesses, not charities.  This episode and his book are both wake-up calls that are for sure going to radicalize the nonprofit world.
