Episode 30: You Need To Be Flexible With Your Plans!

from I Believe In You · host Lee MJ Elias

Being adaptable is a skill set I needed to learn to level up in many aspects of my life. When I was a young professional, any changes to my “plan” would enrage me and often derail me from the goal I was trying to achieve. This was 100% on me. Through time I learned how to be adaptable to change (even though it’s still frustrating).A few things contributed to this:- Understanding that my ego was getting in the way. I focused more on how this affected MY plan over what it meant for the team.- Realizing that whatever change was happening was never as big a deal as I thought. I learned to take a moment to reflect on the change rather than just to be mad- Understanding that the ability to pivot just takes practice and patience. Its something I still work on today.- Having kids. Parents you will understand.Being adaptable can take place in a moment or over several months. No matter the case, give yourself permission to be patient and to give yourself and your team grace. Teams that do this tend to find a way through the adversity.I believe in you, you should too.Share this episode with someone who you think should hear it, and let others know that you believe in them when deserved. It’s a small thing we can all do to leave this place better than we found it.I believe in YOU, your friends, your family, your team, and the power of belief in each other, and you should too.Tune into this micro podcast for bite size perspectives on trust, teamwork and life that will inspire and motivate you daily.
