Episode 308 - Dunkirk

Christopher Nolan triumphs with his new film about a WWII event portrayed less often in movies, the 1940 evacuation of Allied soldiers from the beaches at Dunkirk, France.  Nolan explores the cataclysmic situation from three vantage points: the land, the sea and the air.  What follows is a tapestry where not one character dominates, but a collective traumatic experience is shared.  But what is traumatic for the characters is also thrilling for the audience.  The sound effects editing is incredibly transportive and is one of the most compelling reasons why DUNKIRK must be experienced in an IMAX setting.
