Episode 309 Worthy of Overflow: Dropping Your Shields to Give More

from I'm Perfectly Divine Podcast · host Michelle Bersell

What if the very independence you've cultivated to protect yourself is actually blocking you from receiving more of life's blessings? This week the Divine continues to nudge me to see where I may be unintentionally blocking my ability to receive through the surprising shield of empowerment! I love to think of all of us as empowered. But lurking in the shadow of repeatedly saying "I've got this"—when the reality was I needed help—I was forced to address my shame around neediness. Can we have needs and be empowered? Of course! In fact, what I discovered is that being both capable and receptive is how we allow our hearts to overflow so we have more than enough to give.Join me as we discuss:The four phases of psychological growth: from unhealthy neediness, through empowerment, into dissolution, and finally to expansivenessThe hidden difference between needing external validation to prove your worth versus receiving from a place of already knowing your inherent valueHow true altruism isn't about denying your needs—it's about being so internally filled that you naturally overflow to othersThe unexpected connection between Mother Teresa's receptivity and the divine's desire to treasure youThis episode is an invitation to reconsider what it truly means to stand in your worth. While being empowered means we are able to have our own back, it doesn't have to come at the cost of getting the support we need. Through our human experiences, we get to know what it's like to fuel ourselves from within while having the loving, generous grace of others support us. That's when we experience overflow that has a ripple effect on others. That's the love we're meant to receive and give!
