Episode 31: In Focus - The Hive

This week our focus is on The Hive, Leitrim's Technology Enterprise Centre, in Carrick on Shannon. Breifne sits down with Colm Keane, Manager of The Hive to discuss all the features, facilities and the resources available to start ups, companies and individuals in the building. With 17 units, a hot desk area, meeting rooms and shared office space, it facilitates the employment of a total of 92 full and part time individuals who are either full time or part time in the building. Colm talks about some of the larger employers in the facility such as Prior PLM or Eurolingo as well as some of the success stories which have grown from single person operations in The Hive. The building is popular with workers normally based in Dublin or London who elect to work from home and need a working space on an ad-hoc or casual basis. It also suits software developers or web designers who can generally operate anywhere on the planet with a high speed internet connection. Some of the unique examples of previous users are a BAFTA winning designer who needed high speed internet to send his huge files to his clients around the world. Breifne explains about the role that our partners will play in the show into the future.
