Episode 313: Clip: Dan Siegel, MD. Awareness, Trauma & Trauma Treatment.

from The Trauma Therapist · host Guy Crawford Macpherson

I’m very excited this week to have Dr. Dan Siegel back. Dan’s new book, Aware: The Science and Practice of Presence–The Groundbreaking Meditation Practice (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1101993049/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=wescoatrapro-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=1101993049&linkId=e886a8c6747eea474729c950edf67b22)is, is something that’s been on my radar for quite some time as it fits into much of what we discuss here on the podcast. What does it mean to cultivate awareness? Why is it important? And what are the implications both for therapists in general, for for trauma therapists in particular? And how does this impact the client? Dan Siegel is a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine and the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center (http://marc.ucla.edu/) at UCLA. An award-winning educator, he is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and recipient of several honorary fellowships. Dr. Siegel is also the Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute (https://www.mindsightinstitute.com/?campname=dds-links&camplink=DDSbio), an educational organization, which offers online learning (http://mindsightinstitute.com/online_courses?campname=dds-links&camplink=DDSbio) and in-person seminars (http://mindsightinstitute.com/immersion-weekends?campname=dds-links&camplink=DDSbio) that focus on how the development of mindsight (http://www.drdansiegel.com/about/mindsight/) in individuals, families and communities can be enhanced by examining the interface of human relationships and basic biological processes.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-trauma-therapist-podcast-with-guy-macpherson-phd-inspiring-interviews-with-thought-leaders-in-the-field-of-trauma/exclusive-contentBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.---Thank you for listening! If you want to support the show, I've got three options and every bit helps.$5.00 PayPalhttps://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/NPKS32G8KVSN2$10.00 PayPalhttps://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/495AMDFXQFC3L$15.00 PayPalhttps://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/M7V5RREUKVD8JThank you to our Sponsors: Jane App - use code GUY1MO at https://jane.app (https://jane.app/book_a_demo)Novo Psych - novopsych.com/traumapodcast
