Episode 318 - Suburbicon

from In The Queue - Film Conversations with Andrew and Phil · host Andrew and Phil

The buzz on this film is that it sucks.  We have to concur.  Director George Clooney took an old, unproduced script about murder by Joel and Ethan Coen and tacked on an underdeveloped plot thread about racism to fight white nationalists emboldened by Trump's election.  The result is two competing stories that never coalesce into a whole.  Plus, the Coen Brothers story lacks their directing touch.  Nobody can do a dark comedy like Joel and Ethan Coen.  SUBURBICON has a lot of talent involved but the film is remarkably unentertaining.
