Episode 32: May's Greenhouse

from At Home In Bloomington Hosted by Deb Tomaro

It's all about the dirt. No, not the gossip kind of dirt. The actual dirt, soil, earth. That's what Deb learned in today's episode. And it was a lightbulb moment for her. In the spring of 1965, Marshall May decided to make a career change and started by selling a few vegetable plants and geraniums on his property on the south side of Bloomington. Little did Marshall know that his decision would touch the lives of his family, friends and literally tens of thousands of Bloomington residents over the next 54 years. May's Greenhouse grew from a side yard hobby to a Bloomington institution. Loved by many, it is a place with a storied history and a bright future, thanks to Marshall's daughters and employees, who have worked tirelessly over the years to create a place where anyone, regardless of gardening experience, can get quality plants and advice. Join us as we hear the story of May's Greenhouse from Helen May, who retired in 2003, but who still holds May's close to her heart. And get inspired to get dirty!
