Episode 32: Your Political System Won't Fix Your Life - I Went To The DNC And It Felt Hopeful And Sad And Unifying And Discouraging All At Once

from The Carlos Whittaker Podcast · host That Sounds Fun Network

I got an invite that I couldn't turn down... I took a last-minute trip to Chicago this week to attend the DNC, and I walked away with A LOT of feelings. I imagine the RNC felt similar—unifying, discouraging, hopeful, hopeless. What I was mostly reminded of was that our political systems can't save us. They're too unstable. Not to mention the fact that they're guaranteed to change every 4-or-so years!! I get vulnerable on this episode. I know that we've been working through the 6 pillars this summer, and they're hard practices to hold. I had a hard time living it out this week. I touch on Pillar 5: We are not naive. We know that walking with those who disagree can be messy, challenging, and even infuriating. But we believe the alternative—a world fractured by division—is far worse. We're not too far gone. We don't have to continue to live in a rage-fueled society that feels like our only hope is in politics. We can vote better. We can do better. We can be better. . . . . .
