There were a lot of ways I could have recorded a conversation about this film and talked about how very cool it is; only Ariel could approach it from such an intersectional way and really tease its meanings apart. Sometimes a chair is just a chair; other times the chair is an elegant representation of patriarchy. I’m happy that Ariel is here to talk about the difference…because she’s a lot smarter than me. What’s more – this episode marks the end of a stretch for the podcast, and I am so very thrilled to be going out on such a high (seriously – even if you haven’t seen this film, listen to this episode!). The end of the stretch that I refer to is that I’m about to take a much-needed vacation, and this is the last live episode for about a month. There will still be more shows in-store, but I’m unplugging the mic until May! It’s a weird feeling, considering how much I love talking to my guests, and by-extension you fine folks…but at the same time, I’m really eagre to get some miles on my soul and gain even more perspective to bring back to you fine folks.
