Rome destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD in a destruction that was only escaped by following the words of Christ and fleeing to the mountains. Paul is encouraging the readers to be steadfast in the love and dedication to the Lord, even if it meant dying for the cause of Christ. If they can do that, surely we can spread the Gospel at the grocery store!
