Episode 34 – Food Fable: Pomegranates

Plated Earth Food Fables are original short historical fiction stories about produce and its ability to connect people, culture, and history. This Food Fable is a retelling of an ancient Greek myth that explains why the pomegranate is harvested in winter, and how the fruit is responsible for the earth’s four seasons. The pomegranate features prominently in this story of Persephone, daughter of the goddess of harvest, and her marriage to Hades, the god of the underworld.
