Episode 36 - Holy Motors *Listener's Choice*

from In The Queue - Film Conversations with Andrew and Phil · host Andrew and Phil

Ok, here goes.  Oscar is an actor of sorts who spends his day traveling in a limo going to different "appointments" that he keeps around Paris.  He transforms himself physically into various characters and participates in very surreal vignettes that are seemingly disconnected and have no discernible meaning.  In one encounter, he kidnaps Eva Mendes and takes her back to a kind of lair with seemingly amorous intent.  In another scene he dons motion capture attire and performs some special effect run-throughs...for whom?  That is the question.  Who is Oscar performing for?  Is it us, the viewer?  What the hell does all of this mean?  Phil and Andrew attempt to answer these confounding questions raised by the Leos Carax film, "Holy Motors."
