Important note: During the Middle Ages, the Church grew in its influence. During the darkness of that time, there were many monks, nuns, and missionaries who were a light in the darkness, spreading the love of God in tangible ways. However, as is the case with all humans, power has a corrupting influence, and unfortunately, there were those Church leaders who allowed themselves to be drawn into that place.
