Episode 360: Faces of Death (2026)

There is no doubting Scream’s place in horror history. Still, it is somewhat surprising what the latest installment has done. Part of the success of the sequels is due to Jenna Ortega. There was a time when she was white hot and seemed poised to take over Hollywood. Has that window already closed? Horror heads of a certain age will remember Faces of Death. These memories go beyond just seeing the mondo “documentary”. They extend to the first time they heard about it, the stories surrounding, and how they felt watching it. Each new month brings us another remake, but it was safe to say we weren’t going to see Faces of Death redone. This week’s feature presentation is the surprising remake of the cult classic. Obviously, there was no way they could do a one to one reboot. The original was even a real movie. What they end up doing will surprise everyone familiar with the source material. The modern version of Faces of Death is a slasher. And it is a very well done one. The casting is spot on and the story does not overstay its welcome.
