In Cuba under that system, food was scarce, opportunities were crushed, and the government controlled every aspect of life; disobedience often meant jail or worse. My children and grandchildren have been blessed with freedom, abundance, and opportunity here in America—things I fought desperately to reach. Through this book, I want them to understand the true cost of the freedom they enjoy every day, so they never take it for granted.
